The ISTE Standards Department has a few announcements to share: Toolkit for DIY Standards Refresh Forum coming in September

The refresh of the ISTE Standards for Students got off to a great start with meetings and public forums at ISTE 2015! We’ll be collecting data through the end of March and want to engage thousands of educators around the world in this effort. We’ll need your help. ISTE will be publishing a toolkit in early September for you to conduct DIY Standards Refresh Forums at conferences, meetings, and with your colleagues and students. Keep your eye open for the toolkit and as you submit proposals for the conference season, consider leading a refresh forum!

Standards implementation wiki sunsetting: A number of faculty used the nets-implementation wiki in their ed tech courses. After serving the community since 2008, ISTE is sunsetting the wiki this fall. Don’t despair, though! Consider ISTE’s Project ReimaginED. It is a free and open community of educators interested in learning more about how the ISTE Standards can support content area standards. There is also a library of standards-aligned learning materials submitted by members in the community and vetted by standards experts.

·       Use the library of resources with your students as examples of what the standards look like in the classroom.

  • Consider having your candidates submit their learning materials to the Project. If successfully aligned, they will earn a badge and ISTE will publish their work in the Project ReimaginED library!

Global Collaboration Day will take place on September 17th; check out this recent article from eSchool News about this exciting event.Additi The annual online conference will take place in mid-November. For Global Collaboration Day, we are seeking schools, after-school programs, libraries, universities, museums, and companies to host online activities on September 17th with the primary goal of demonstrating the power of global collaboration in the learning process. These events are designed by hosts and could be as simple as a Twitter chat , an online book discussion, or a virtual screening of a film. The idea is that we collectively present a myriad of globally connective activities that may encourage others to try using technology to collaborate online. See examples of projects that have been submitted thus far by clicking here.
