2011-2012 NJAET Technology Project Grants

NJAET TECHNOLOGY PROJECT GRANTS
GUIDELINES
School Year 2011 - 2012

Goal:

NJAET’s goal is to financially assist teachers to develop and implement creative educational technology projects that engage New Jersey’s students in effective learning with technology integration based upon the current CCCS. These projects will be shared with other educational technologists.

Number of Grants:

A total of four (4) grants may be awarded, one in each of the following grade categories (PK—2), (3 – 5), (6 – 8), and (9 – 12). If any of these categories fails to receive any worthy applications, (as determined by the Grant Application Evaluation Committee formed by the NJAET Executive Board), no grant will be awarded in that category.

Amount of Grants:

The maximum amount of each grant will not exceed $2,000.

Deadline:
Sunday, November 6, 2011

Criteria:

The project manager must be a New Jersey certified teacher working with students in a New Jersey public, non-public or private school.

All adult project participants must be members of NJAET. For FREE membership at www.njaet.org , click on "Login" on the Members Only menu on the Home Page and follow the directions given there.

Proposals must:

  • Be submitted electronically.
  • Involve and have an impact on New Jersey‘s PK-12 school students.
  • Focus on the 8.1 Technology Standards.
  • Be student-oriented and measurable.
  • Be clear, precise, and specific.
  • Include Goals & Objectives, Project Implementation & Activities (including such items as methodologies, research and best practices), Number of Students Impacted, Resources, and Evaluation (both student assessment and project evaluation).
  • Describe how they are creative, unique and/or original. Be specific.
  • Include a technology component such as a video, web page, ning, slide show, YouTube video, Twitter or Facebook component.
 Please Note:

Previous winners (grant project leaders and all team members) are not eligible to submit proposals for, or participate in, this 2011-2012 Technology Project Grants program.

Preference will be given to proposals which emphasize more than one of the following:

Current New Jersey’s CCCS – 8.1 ISTE’s NETS for Students
Interdisciplinary Collaboration Cross Curricular Connections
Differentiated Instruction Inclusion

Implementation:

This year, we will announce the winners earlier, on or before December 15, 2011.

After selection, the project manager will receive a document for official signatures to accept the grant monies before the grant award is finalized. Please return by January 15, 2012. This allows the district to formally approve receiving the grant. Grant funds will be made available immediately after the receipt of this paperwork. In this way, the project manager and other adult participants can begin implementation of the grant as soon as possible so that the project will be completed by the end of the 2011 – 2012 school year. The funds will be sent directly to the school’s business administrator to manage.

Copies of all receipts/purchase orders for materials and/or services obtained with grant funds must be submitted at the completion of the grant.

The project manager of each winning grant will be expected to participate in a single session presentation at the 2012 NJAET conference.

Completed grant projects will include a post project evaluation component and will be featured in NJAET publications and on the NJAET website.
