NJAET News - January 29, 2008 We're starting the new year off with lots of information on opportunities for educators. Enjoy!
Have you and your students been involved or are you involved in an original, online learning activity? If so, you are encouraged to enter the 2008 SIGTel Online Learning Award competition. Since 1991, ISTE's Telelearning Special Interest Group (SIGTel), has recognized creative teachers for their pioneering use of telecommunication networks to provide innovative learning opportunities for school-age students K16.
The U.S. Department of Education is currently accepting nominations for its American Stars of Teaching awards, which recognize educators who are improving student achievement -- using innovative instructional strategies -- and making a difference in the lives of their students. Anyone can nominate an American Star. After the Department receives a nomination, a verification form is sent to the teacher's principal. One teacher will be recognized from each state and the District of Columbia.
The deadline for nominations is March 31, 2008. For more information go to: https://www.t2tweb.us/AmStar/About.asp. (Note: 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007 award winners are posted at https://www.t2tweb.us/AmStar/Prior.asp.)
